Byron Hurt interview on "Hip Hop: Beyond Beats and Rhymes"
Refreshing and enlightening conversation with filmmaker and activist Byron Hurt on his renowned documentary on male identity in hip hop "Hip Hop: Beyond Beats and Rhymes". The film deconstructs hip hop as it relates to African American culture and consciousness, and it illustrates the elements of violence, misogyny and homophobia that are often endemic in this cultural form. This conversation also engages on aspects of modern race relations, culture and the rise of inspiring new models of African American manhood, including Barack Obama.

Wayne D GANGSTA spits fire! Trippin mane remix
here it is the song everyone has been waiting for the wayne d be trippin remix!!!Wigger (sometimes spelled whigger) is a pejorative slang term for a white person who emulates mannerisms, language, and fashions associated with African-American culture, particularly hip hop in the United States or the Grime/Garage scene in Britain.[1] The term is a portmanteau of either wannabe or white and nigger. The term is considered derogatory, reflecting stereotypes of African-American or Black British culture, and can be used pejoratively, because of its connotations of cultural appropriation. It is also often used in a racist manner, not only belittling the person perceived as acting black, but also demeaning black people and culture by proxy. Some, however, use the term neutrally, or as a light joke, without any racism intended. The phenomenon of white people adopting stereotypical black mannerisms, speech, and apparel -- which in the general case is called allophilia -- has appeared in several generations since slavery was abolished in the western world. The concept has been documented in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia and other white-majority countries. An early form of this was the white negro in the jazz and swing music scenes of the 1920s and 1930s; as examined in the 1957 Norman Mailer essay, "The White Negro." It was later seen in the Zoot suiter of the 1930s and 1940s; the hipster of the 1940s; and the beatnik and rock and roller of the 1950s.

Journey to Jah - The Film! 2011 With GENTLEMAN, ALBOROSIE, TERRY LYNN, LUCIANO, CAROLYN COOPER www.journeytojah-film.com www.kickstarter.com A feature documentary about the search for identity and spirituality in the homeland of Reggae and Rasta - Jamaica. In our deeply troubled times in which the danger of the Islam is discussed, the catholic Church loses its influence on youth and integration becomes an ever more intriguing topic, the film directors Noël Dernesch and Moritz Springer follow the journey of two persons who found their visions of a better world in the faith and rites of an originally black culture: in Rastafari and its corresponding reggae music. Emerged in the liberation movement against the colonial rule, Rastafari has its origins in political declaration of war and offers at the same time a promise of salvation. Rastafari stands for the utopia of a better world. Is it this utopic moment that attracts western youth yearning for meaningfulness and identity that go beyond neo-liberal consumerism? In quest for an answer, the film accompanies Gentleman and Alborosie, two musicians of international renown, who turned their back on western society and set off to Jamaica to face the ultimate consequences of the messages in their music. The movie documents their experiences during their quest for a spiritual homeland and their integration in a black culture living in a society divided by political disorder. In Jamaica music makes politics. Music is the key to ...

Harlem is so large, in fact, that it would be impossible to cover in just one video. So instead, our first stop in our Harlem series will be Central Harlem & West Harlem! Harlem History: Harlem was originally a Dutch village founded around 1658. It was named after the city of Haarlem in the Netherlands. In the early 20th century many African Americans moved to this area and in the 1920s and 30s many famous artists, musicians and businessmen became well known in Harlem and took Black culture to a higher level, in a movement known as the Harlem Renaissance. Via The Raw Story: "George Zimmerman, who claims to have shot and killed Florida teenager Trayvon Martin in February in self-defense, launched his own website on Sunday to raise money to cover his legal expenses. Many suspected the website to be fake. Adding the suspicion, Think Progress noted that the website features a picture of Ohio State University's black cultural center with "Long Live Zimmerman" graffiti on it. Until The Light Takes Us (Official Trailer)
Until The Light Takes Us (Official Trailer)
In theaters this winter. Until The Light Takes Us tells the story of black metal. Part music scene and part cultural uprising, black metal rose to worldwide notoriety in the mid-nineties when a rash of suicides, murders, and church burnings accompanied the explosive artistic growth and output of a music scene that would forever redefine what heavy metal is and what it stands for to other musicians, artists and music fans world-wide. Until The Light Takes Us goes behind the highly sensationalized media reports of "Satanists running amok in Europe" to examine the complex and largely misunderstood principles and beliefs that led to this rebellion against both Christianity and modern culture. To capture this on film, directors Aaron Aites and Audrey Ewell moved to Norway and lived with the musicians for several years, building relationships that allowed them to create a surprisingly intimate portrait of this violent, but ultimately misunderstood, movement. The result is a poignant, moving story thats as much about the idea that reality is composed of whatever the most people believe, regardless of whats actually true, as it is about a music scene that blazed a path of murder and arson across the northern sky
